If you are anything like I am, you are looking for a way to get out of the house this summer. It is a hot one, but there are ways to stay cool in this heat and make the most of the summer. While there are so many things to do in Loudoun County, I’ve compiled a list of the top 3 things I cannot wait to dive into this summer!
Hike the Potomac Heritage Trail
I spend most of my time outdoors, especially when I’m photographing families or enjoying time with my own. This is one of the trails I am dying to make it to this season because every photo I see is simply beautiful. It spans Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and even D.C. so you and your family can enjoy it from wherever you find yourselves. The trail is wooded, so lots of shade during these hot days, and lined with historical sites so that you can brush up on your local history while you’re out as a family!
Discover Leesburg Animal Park
Did I mention I love animals? You can take the whole family for a trip to see a variety of animals, domestic and exotic. They offer everything you need to enjoy the day, but you can also bring your own drinks and snacks to have a picnic with the animals! On top of the day trips, the facility offers parties and camps. If you can’t make the trip out to see it in person, there are livestreams of some of the animals on the website so that you can enjoy wildlife from a distance!
See all that the animal park has to offer!
Explore the Shenandoah Caverns
While there are many caverns in the area, I cannot wait to check out the Shenandoah Caverns and think it is the perfect place for a family trip. They are open 7 days a week to share their beauty with the world, so the opportunity works for most schedules. Your family is guided through the caves by an official tour guide and you get to enjoy the beauty that lives under the ground for an hour! If you work up an appetite while there, they have a cavern’s cafe on site, as well as other activities so that you can turn it into a day trip! If you love them enough to want to keep coming back, you can even hold special events here.
Dig deep and discover underground!
What do you think? Will you be checking out any of these this summer?
I can’t wait to cross these off of my visit list. Let me know what you think!
